Police Name Batavia Driver in Fatal Crash Wednesday
The 43-year-old was dead at the scene. Here is her identity and how the crash happened.
Police Thursday afternoon identified the Batavia woman who died at the scene of a head-on collision on Randall Road.
The woman is 43-year-old Amy P. Holtorf, according to Batavia police.
Holtorf was traveling northbound on Randall Road just south of Mill Creek when her 2005 Honda Odyssey minivan crossed the center lane and struck a 2012 Nissan Rogue traveling southbound, a police statement said. The crash occurred at 11:52 p.m. Wednesday.
An occupant of the Nissan crossover SUV was flown by helicopter to Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove in serious to critical condition. The other occupant was transported to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
"The identities of the occupants in the Nissan are being withheld pending family notification outside the area," the statement said.
Batavia Police Chief Gary Schira previously told Patch that the two occupants of the vehicle with survivors are a couple from Aurora.
Batavia police and the Kane County Accident Reconstruction Team continue to investigate the crash.
