DWGS Sneak Peek: Aldermen Dorothy Flanagan and Sam Hill Are Ready to Rumba!

Vote now! And sign up before tickets run out for the 2013 Dancing With the Geneva Stars.

 

They might someday have a tiff over TIF districts, but 1st Ward Alderman Sam Hill and 4th Ward Alderman Dorothy Flanagan and in lockstep these days.

That's because America's cutest aldermanic couple is a dance team in the upcoming, nerve-wracking, tension-building Feb. 9, 2013, Dancing With the Geneva Stars event.

Presented here are photos from lessons and practice routines of our intepid ward representatives, who are lucky there are no other aldermen dancing or they'd be in violation of the Open Meetings Act.

This year's DWGS takes place 7 p.m. Feb. 9 at Eagle Brook Country Club. Open seating is $40 per guest, which includes hors d’oeuvres, dessert and cash bar and an evening of great entertainment.

The easiest way for you to make a reservation and vote is to go directly to the Dancing With the Geneva Stars website: www.genevarts.org.

Voting will continue until Feb. 8. One dollar counts as one vote.

Every year, the event has sold out, so make your reservations right ... NOW! The committee promises an evening of fun-filled entertainment with 12 local celebrities competing for your votes.

This year, all four past champion teams will join together for a never-before-seen encore dance choreographed by Linda Cunningham, founder and artistic director of State Street Dance Studio.

Also new this year is the chance to win an iPad. For $10, you can play the heads-tails game and go home a winner. And, finally, to end the evening of entertainment, there will be a twist dance-off followed by an evening of open dance.

There is a limit of 370 ticket reservations available. Ticket price is $40 for open seating, which includes hors d'oeuvres, dessert and an evening of fun entertainment. A cash bar is also available.

DOROTHY FLANAGAN & SAM HILL

Description: The senior 2013 team. Though Dorothy and Sam may not
be able to keep up with running marathons and participating in triathlons, they are both energetic and enthusiastic about dancing the Rumba in this year’s event.

Political Experience: Dorothy has been Geneva’s 4th Ward alderwoman for the past 19 years. She co-chairs the Geneva Beautification Committee. This
busy lady is also vice president of marketing & sales for Copia International (a software publishing company). Sam is retired and serves as 1st Ward alderman,
and will have served 12 years this April. He previously served on the Geneva Plan Commission, the Geneva Park District Board and currently serves on the Park Foundation Board. Sam is the city liaison to the Chamber Board of Directors.
