Former Genevan Drew Frasz will go for a second term, while his District 26 becomes District 18, serving all of Blackberry and Kaneville townships and small portions of Batavia, Virgil and Campton townships.
Drew Frasz, Kane County Board representative for District 26, announced his candidacy for re-election in a press release sent on Monday.
Due to redistricting, District 26 will be reduced in size and will become District 18. It will include all of Blackberry and Kaneville townships and small portions of Batavia, Virgil and Campton townships.
Elected as a reform Republican in 2008, the LaFox resident says he's proud of the County Board’s fiscal responsibility during the economic slowdown, citing reduced staff, reduced spending, a bond rating that was raised by two rating agencies, and a reduction of the county’s share of local tax dollars to 4.75 percent.
Here are some other points from the press release:
Frasz is proud of his firm opposition to expanding gambling in our communities and his role in greatly expanding the County Board’s ethics ordinance. Frasz also supports preservation of open space and smart growth principles.
As a first-term County Board member, Frasz has been appointed as chairman of the Administrative Committee as well as the Forest Preserve Disrict’s Community Affairs Committee.
Frasz has opted out of the pension offered to County Board members and accepts no campaign contributions from organizations doing business with the county.
Locally, Frasz was instrumental in:
“I am a life-long local resident and enjoy dealing with local issues. I have the bestmeeting attendance on the county board and would be honored to be given the opportunity to serve a second term,” Frasz said.

OK, I may be biased, since Drew is my younger and more handsome brother, but having rarely voted for a Republican (last time was for Chuck Percy) if even a yellow dog Democrat as myself can support his program certainly others in the area can too.

@Geoffrey -Wow! Chuck Percy! I haven't heard that name for a while. But I have to agree, Drew has always been approachable and level-headed, something rare with many elected officials. His hard-won race broke a stronghold in this district (mine) that needed to end. Since I've never met you, I can't say whether or not he's better looking, but blondes always have more fun!
