County Administers Out of Date Rabies Tickets

Animal Control blames understaffed office for incorrect tickets.

The Chicago Tribune is reporting the Kane County animal control administrator wrongly issued multiple tickets to pet owners for failing to keep their animals vaccinated for rabies.

Kane County Animal Control Administrator Kimberly Rudloff told the Tribune the tickets were sent to residents based on outdated information. She said it will take up to 10 weeks to get the records updated. Rudloff also said it cost $30,000 to hire temporary employees to input information from 60,000 rabies certificates.

The department won't start sending tickets for vaccination violations again until late June, Rudloff told the Tribune.
