2 Drivers Sent to Hospital After Minivans Crash Sunday on Fabyan Parkway

Both vans sustained heavy damage, officials said. Here are more details.

Two people were taken to the hospital Sunday night after their minivans were involved in a crash on Fabyan Parkway, officials said.

The crash occurred on Fabyan along the bridge just east of Route 31, said Lt. Scott Hogan of the Batavia Fire Department. Batavia police and fire were dispatched to the scene sometime after 7:30 p.m.

A total of two minivans were involved in the crash — one had a male driver, the other a female driver. Hogan refuted initial reader reports that the crash was a head-on collision.

"One vehicle had heavy front-end damage, the other had heavy side damage," Hogan told Batavia Patch.

The two drivers were each transported to Delnor Hospital. Hogan did not disclose their conditions, citing HIPPA law. A civilian eyewitness reported two people being put on stretchers at the scene. There were no other passengers in either vehicle.

The cause of the crash and road conditions at the time of the crash were unknown at the time of this report.

Here is our initial post on this crash:

Batavia police and fire were at the scene of a car crash on Fabyan Parkway tonight near Route 31.

The crash was reported on Fabyan just east of Route 31 at about 7:30 p.m. Fabyan Parkway was shut down in that area until about 8:30 p.m. with traffic rerouted, Batavia police said.

At least two ambulances and a tow truck were sent to the scene, according to initial reports.

Further information on the number of vehicles and people involved were not immediately available. Patch will post an update if any other details are released.

Well it was me and my cousin and we were stoped at the red light. I didn't see the crash but I did see a red car on a tow truck and another car with the front of the car where the engine should be was all dismantled. The firefighters had their horses all unraveled and the dismantled car looked a bit black, I don't know if it was just the light because it was dark or if there was a fire. I was located in the car on 31 or North Batavia Avenu.

I hoped I helped some!
