A Basket Full of Blessings Scheduled for Holy Week in Geneva

Holy Week events in Geneva include blessing of the Easter baskets, Easter vigils, an East egg hunt and a Maundy Thursday luncheon.

The next seven days will be busy for Geneva churches, as Holy Week festivities ramp up the excitement for Easter. Here are just a few of the many events scheduled for this week:

will hold its Third Tuesday free community supper at 4:30 p.m. April 19 at the church, 211 Hamilton St. For more information, call 630-232-7120.

will hold the Blessing of the Easter Baskets at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 23, in Seton Hall at the church, 1891 Kaneville Rd. For more information, call 630-232-9262.

will hold a Vigil Watch from 10 p.m. Maundy Thursday, April 21, to 7 a.m. Good Friday, April 22, in the chapel at 320 Franklin St. Volunteers are asked to sign up to silently stand guard, just as Jesus did in the Garden of Gethsemane. For more information, call 630-232-0133.

will host a free all-church luncheon at noon Maundy Thursday, April 21, followed by Holy Communion at 1 p.m. at the church, 301 S. Third St. For more information, call Susan Munch at 630-232-0165.

will hold an Easter Egg Hunt for children ages 18 and younger at 9 a.m. Easter Sunday, April 24, at the church, 321 Hamilton St. Easter worship services will begin at 10 a.m. For more information, call 232-7143.
