The sculpture isn't something you see every day—a 9-foot-tall horse and knight made entirely from bicycle parts.

And now, of course, you can't see it every day because someone stole it.

That's right, someone, somehow took a 9-foot piece of art out of a public right of way on one of the busiest roads in town and got away with it. At least, so far.

The statue in question is the one that used to sit just outside City Hall near the Geneva library. It was moved not too long ago to the parkway on the west of the 100 block of South Randall Road near Fargo Boulevard, where someone took it sometime between noon Jan. 3 and noon Jan. 6, according to Geneva police reports.

The sculpture weighs about 400 pounds and is valued at $2,000.

According to a report in the Kane County Chronicle, the statue was created by local artist Joe Gagnepain of Batavia in 2000.

Gagnepain told the Chronicle that the sculpture fell down and wondered if someone might have thought it was scrap metal.

That's just rude, "funkychicken." There is no point in your comment & u can't even put your name on it. To each his own in opinion.
This is pretty sad that no one noticed anything. Even if it was fallen, wouldn't a scrap collector find it odd to hit the jackpot?

It was quirky but fun. My kids and I loved to talk about it every time we drove down Randall. We loved that after the rider fell down they put flowers on it, like he died. It was like it was telling a story. When the whole thing was gone we were sad and wondered why they would get rid of it. Can't believe someone took it. What is wrong with people?

I thinks it's best value is at $0.17/lb It's an eyesore and I would have paid someone to take it away if it was near my house.
