Jay C. Bennett, Jr., 59, of Geneva died Sunday, Jan. 22, surrounded by family and friends at his home in Geneva.
He was born Feb. 12, 1952, in Geneva, son of Jay, Sr. and Margaret (Deverell) Bennett.
Jay graduated from Wheaton North High School. He was CEO of Fidlar Election Company in Rock Island for many years. He later served as the Kane County chief deputy clerk.
Jay enjoyed spending time with his family and being outdoors whether gardening, biking or boating.
He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Mary Pat (Riedy) Bennett; children Traci M. (Kiley) Hamilton of Aurora, Jay C. Bennett, III of Chicago and Jeff M. (Megan) Bennett of Elgin; grandchildren Colin Jay Hamilton, Bayliee Klimasek and Blakely Jay Bennett; brother, Timm Bennett of California; and his beloved dog, Quigley. Jay will be dearly missed by his many in-laws, nieces, nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be held 9:30 a.m. Friday, Jan. 27, at the Malone Funeral Home, 324 East State St. (Route 38), Geneva, proceeding to Holy Cross Catholic Church, 2300 Main St., Batavia, for celebration of funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m., the Rev. Msgr. Daniel Deutsch and Father Keith Romke co-celebrants.
Interment will follow Mass at Wheaton Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 26, at Malone Funeral Home, Geneva, with a Rosary recited at 8:45 pm.
