Rising Star Theatreworks announces Spring classes
Spring Classes Scheduled at Rising Star Theatreworks Geneva Studio
Whether you are curious about giving theatre a try or an experienced young actor looking to improve your skills, Rising Star Theatreworks has a class for you this Spring. High school students can study improv or prepare for a college-level theatre course. RST is offering classes in April for students in grades 3 through college-age.
Grades 3-5

All classes will be held at our Geneva studio, 451 Stevens Street.
Improv 101
Improve your improvisation! This class will teach you the rules of improvisation, great improvisational games, and techniques that you can use both on stage and in your everyday life. You'll learn the basics of creating a scene, character, and dialogue on the fly! Whether you're looking to improve for a drama class/club or want to start your own Who's Line is it Anyway-type show, this class will give you all the tools and practice you'll need all through a series of fun games that you can take with you! Class is intended for those who have basic or no experience with improv. Instructor Elizabeth Krahulec has studied at Second City, WWC, ISU, and has been performing in the Fox Valley for 15 years.

Outta the Box
This class is just how it sounds—you will learn to break out of your comfort zone while laughing at yourself and each other! Learn to shake off nerves and shyness while gaining the confidence to take the stage. You'll learn exercises and techniques to further your theater abilities. Instructor Elizabeth Krahulec has studied at Second City, WWC, ISU, and has been performing in the Fox Valley for 15 years.

Theater Games

Theater and Beyond
Do you study theater in college? Do you want to? This class will prepare you for your Acting 101 class at your university. You will learn what to expect when entering a college theater classroom including scene work, characterization, pantomime, and delivery. Prepare yourself so that you can succeed in your freshman level theater classes by taking this four-week course. This class is intended for students who are planning to take or considering college-level theater classes. Instructor Elizabeth Krahulec has studied at Second City, WCC, ISU, and has been performing in the Fox Valley for 15 years.

Come alive onstage as you learn while having fun with theatre games, improv and scene work. Acting is an activity in which you should always be improving your skills to be an asset to any cast. Projection, characterization, focus, stage movement, and audition techniques are all covered in this class taught by Jeanne O'Donnell, who has directed more than 40 shows over the past 15 years, and Steven Sledzinski, a long-time performer and workshop instructor.

Summer Session: All the World's a Stage
Get your Shakespeare on as you explore his world by performing in the informative yet funny compilation of some of Shakespeare's most memorable scenes. The week will end with a performance. Instructor Jeanne O'Donnell has been directing young people for more than 15 years.

WHEN: Monday through Friday, July 11 through 15, 9 am to Noon
