Murphy Named Third State Farm Player of the Week for Geneva
- Name: Cody Murphy
- School or league: Geneva High School
- Team: Viking Varsity Football
- Award: State Farm Player of the Week
Following the Geneva Vikings' third game of the season last Friday, the school's varsity football coaches unanimously chose senior linebacker Cody Murphy as the team's next State Farm Player of the Week. Murphy had 12 tackles during the Vikings' game against Batavia on September 7.
"Cody made several key stops against Batavia. He was a leader in our off-season program and his play is the result of that hard work," explained Head Coach Rob Wicinski upon presenting Murphy with a specially inscribed and dated Player of the Week football.
The Player of the Week program recognizes players who have made an outstanding contribution to that week's varsity football game and demonstrated the ideals of the Viking football program. The program was made possible by the donation from local State Farm Agent Bill Nelson of commemorative footballs custom-printed with the date and opponent for each regular season game.
Nelson has been a State Farm agent in St. Charles for 15 years. He and his family reside in Geneva.
