Former Geneva City Attorney Joe Radovich Dies at 91

Joseph “Joe” Radovich, of Geneva passed away Sept. 18, 2012, at Delnor Hospital.

The son of Serbian immigrants, he was born on March 26, 1921, in Chicago, IL, to Charles and Mileva Radovich. He was united in marriage to his first wife, Christine Marino in 1943, and after Christine’s death in 1969, he married Virginia Korakas of St. Charles, IL, in 1972.

Joe had a long, rewarding and distinguished professional life as a lawyer from 1943 to 2009. After serving as an officer in the U.S. Army Judge Advocate Corp during World War II, Joe established his private practice in Geneva in 1948 and continued to practice law with his son until his retirement in 2009.

He served as member and president of the Kane County Bar Association, member of the Illinois State Bar Association, American Legion Post #630, and Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was city attorney for Geneva from 1957 to 1961.

Joe was the proud and loving parent to his children, Charles (Barbara) of Geneva, Joan (Jim Ragsdale) of Ventura, CA, and Valerie (John) Trimble of Fishers, IN, and equally proud of his granddaughter Jennifer (Jordan) Naylor of Batavia and his two great-granddaughters, Meredith and Amanda.

He is survived by his immediate family, a niece and several nephews and was preceded in death by his parents, seven sisters and brother.

His family invites Joe’s friends to celebrate his life with them from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Oct. 12, 2012, at the Geneva Golf Club, 831 South St., Geneva, IL.

Donations in Joe’s memory may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.

While my father served as Geneva Alderman, he would often seek out Joe's opinions. So even though Mr. Radovich officially left his role as City Attorney in 1961, his guidance was continually sought long after. My condolences to the family.
