Condolences to the VanThournout family. John was a pillar of the Geneva community, a great example of a businessman who gave back, time and again.

I'll always remember John's many kindnesses to our family, particularly to my mother during the time she worked at First National of Geneva during the late 1960s and early '70s.

John and Joyce lived across the street from our family for 23 years. Great neighbors! John helped me settle in Geneva in 1979 and made me feel welcome. We miss them both.

I worked at competitor State Bank of St. Charles, and always had the highest respect for John, his staff and the First National Bank of Geneva. He was the classic community banker, giving back to his town. A true gentleman.
